Assembling the A-Team

Recently, I was in New York City on business for the week, traveling with a couple of my ninjas and staying at our client's preferred Hilton a mile or so offsite. Two of us were getting into the elevator one evening and a vacationing couple, upon hearing our conversation about powering through the night to finish building a particular component, asked, "Are you guys like the A-Team or something?"

We were a little taken back by that. Several days into this particular engagement, we DID feel like Hannibal and BA, though. (Face was sleeping, I think, and nobody qualified to be Murdock.) It was an interesting thing to be considered mercenaries, which of course we were in a few senses:

  1. We brought our own guns. (Computers in this case.)
  2. Once the assignment was done, we got to go home and wait for the next assignment.
  3. We always paid in cash. (This part is inexplicable and doesn't even make sense. But it's a true parallel.)

That week was particularly challenging, exhausting, and rewarding. Two out of three of those are why we do what we do, and ultimately why I started my company. And, of course, there's killing the bad guys with our abundant AK-47s.
